I’m a watercolour artist from Perth, Western Australia, who loves to travel. I am constantly inspired by the beautiful world around me and my favourite way to take it all in is through sketching.
For me, the best souvenir isn’t a photo on a phone. It’s the memory of the time you spent truly seeing a place. Whether it’s the way moss clings to an ancient stone wall or how the midday sun hits a terracotta roof, I believe in the power of "slow travel."

Course Content
The Art of Seeing is a comprehensive, 8-hour technical masterclass that bridges the gap between observation and art. Moving through a structured progression, we'll start with all the materials you'll need, moving on to discovering a deconstruction method, which will help you understand how to simplify complex architecture
into basic shapes.
Later, we will talk about getting confident with your ink work and unlocking the alchemy of watercolor layering. You'll learn how to paint a variety of natural and architectural elements.
We will create 3 big drawings together, so that you can practice combining elements from previous modules. This course provides the repeatable system you need to turn any travel memory into a soulful, hand-drawn masterpiece.

In this course you'll learn:
MODULE 1 & 2
FOUNDATION & CORE TECHNIQUE
In this course, you will learn the mindset, preparation, and fundamental skills to begin. This includes finding inspiration and references, understanding materials, and mastering basic techniques like deconstructing images, drawing with pencil and fine liner, mixing colors, and applying watercolor and highlights.
MODULE 3 & 4
PAINTING NATURE & ARCHITECTURE
You will learn to paint the specific elements of the natural world and the built environment. This includes techniques for rendering bushes, trees, foliage, rocks, water, and grass, as well as bricks, wood, walls, molding, shadows, roofs, and windows.
MODULE 5 & 6
COMBINING ELEMENTS INTO SCENES
You will discover how to combine natural and architectural elements into complete illustrations. This includes layering pencil and ink work, applying watercolor to buildings and foliage, and adding final details to create cohesive scenes like houses and landscapes.
MODULE 7
CREATING A COMPLEX MASTERPIECE
We will plan and execute a detailed, complex final piece. This includes deconstructing a challenging scene, sketching architectural and natural elements together, and building up the complete illustrated composition.

We will look together at the materials, basic techniques, and knowledge needed to begin this journey. Approaching a new technique means first learning how best to use the tools at your disposal.
Practical exercises
Theory is important, but what makes you a true artist is practice... Lots of practice! You'll find lots of exercises to get started with and from which to get inspiration. I will show you some tricks that will make your sketch truly unique and masterpieces.
